North Ridgeville Roof Replacement | GAF Master Elite Quality

A family in North Ridgeville, OH, noticed small granules collecting in their downspouts and a few stray shingles in their yard after a heavy spring storm, it was time for a new roof. Their home had served them well for nearly two decades, but the original builder-grade roof was reaching the end of its functional lifespan. M&T Roofing & Restoration was contacted to provide a comprehensive assessment and a long-term solution that would protect their investment for decades to come.
The Problem
Upon arriving at the North Ridgeville residence, our lead inspector conducted a thorough multi-point roof evaluation. The issues were immediately apparent: granule loss had left the asphalt mat exposed to harsh UV rays, causing the shingles to become brittle and prone to cracking. Furthermore, we identified several areas of compromised parts of the roof, result of Northeast Ohio weather.
Left unaddressed, these compromised areas were an open invitation for moisture intrusion. In the volatile climate of Northeast Ohio, a failing roof isn't just an aesthetic issue; it is a structural liability. The biggest concern is potential leaks, making a full replacement the most logical and cost-effective path forward compared to repeated, temporary repairs.
Our Solution
We recommended a complete roofing system overhaul rather than a simple shingle swap. Because M&T Roofing & Restoration is a GAF Master Elite® Certified contractor, we were able to offer the homeowner the GAF Lifetime Roofing System. This approach ensures that every component—from the leak barrier to the ridge vents—is designed to work together seamlessly.
Our team provided a detailed estimate for a high-performance roof replacement that included upgraded ventilation and premium underlayment. We helped the homeowners select a shingle color that complemented their siding while providing the architectural depth they desired to boost their home's curb appeal in their quiet North Ridgeville neighborhood.
Materials & Products
For this project, we utilized industry-leading materials to ensure maximum durability against Lake Erie's wind and snow loads. The primary components included:
-
GAF Timberline HDZ® Shingles: Chosen for their LayerLock™ Technology and StrikeZone™ nailing area, providing the industry's toughest wind warranty.
-
GAF WeatherWatch® Mineral-Surfaced Leak Barrier: Installed in valleys and around penetrations to prevent leaks caused by ice dams and wind-driven rain.
-
GAF Cobra® Rigid Vent 3: To ensure proper attic ventilation, reducing heat buildup in the summer and moisture in the winter.
-
GAF FeltBuster® Synthetic Underlayment: A high-traction synthetic alternative to traditional felt that provides an extra layer of protection against wind-driven rain.
The Process
The project kicked off at 7:00 AM on a Wednesday. The teardown phase involved removing one layer of old roofing material down to the original wood decking. During this phase, we identified and replaced several sheets of rotted wood sheathing that had been damaged by slow leaks around the chimney and other areas.
Throughout the day, our project managers remained on-site to oversee the installation and provide the homeowner with updates.
The Result
The transformation was immediate. The North Ridgeville home now stands out with a beautiful, architecturally significant roof that offers far more than just visual appeal. With the GAF Golden Pledge™ Warranty—available only through Master Elite contractors—the homeowners now have 50 years of non-prorated coverage on their shingles.
Beyond the peace of mind that comes with a leak-free home, the improved ventilation system is expected to lower the home’s cooling costs during the humid Ohio summers. This project serves as a prime example of how M&T Roofing & Restoration delivers superior protection for families across Northeast Ohio.
